    Additional Information

Dr. Cho believes in the effectiveness of a flexible system that allows for constant improvement and team building. He is looking forward to learning more about how to provide the best care for patients and reduce the unnecessary cost of such care.

His research interests stem from working with Dr. Horacio Rilo at the Pancreatic Islet Transplantation Program at Northwell Health (Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell) – one of the few centers worldwide, which provided him with the exposure and interest to innovative research for diabetes and the associated technology (such as continuous glucose monitoring) for control and treatment. Dr. Cho worked with Drs. Barnes and Blanc to study the role of interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) in Erythroblastic Islands (EBIs) during hematopoiesis. One focus of the project was to characterize the cellular make-up of the islands using techniques such as imaging flow cytometry, Western blot, and single cell RNAseq. Dr. Cho would like to research the possible explanation, at the molecular level, for the impairment of erythropoiesis and emergency myelopoiesis that occurs during anemia of chronic disease.

There are many aspects of primary care, intensive care, hematology/oncology, and gastroenterology that Dr. Cho finds of interest and is considering to pursue.
