In a heartfelt reflection on her journey towards a nursing career, Sylvia Collier credits a pivotal high school experience with a nurse practitioner as a significant influence in her life.
“The visit left a lasting impression because of the care I received and the compassion, knowledge and confidence she brought into the room,” said Sylvia. “It was then that I realized the impact one person can make in another’s life, and I knew I wanted to be that person for others.”
Today, Sylvia is proud to serve as a nurse practitioner specializing in gynecological women’s health, with a focus on hormone replacement therapy, with Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) OB/GYN in Bethlehem and Braselton. She provides evidence-based care that addresses the unique needs of women navigating hormonal changes at various life stages.
“I was fortunate to grow up with my mother and aunts, who were all nurses at various levels,” adds Sylvia. “Watching their dedication and pride in their work instilled a deep respect for the profession and a desire to follow in their footsteps.”
Sylvia earned her nursing degree from Hampton University in Virginia and her master’s degree from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. She brings over two decades of experience in women’s health, including time as a Navy Corpsman and many years spent in labor and delivery before honing her expertise in gynecology and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
While in her masters program, Sylvia completed an OB/GYN rotation with NGPG.
“That experience affirmed my passion for helping women, and NGPG felt like home, so I realized this is where I wanted to be long term,” Sylvia explained. “I am extremely happy to be part of this community personally and professionally.”
Sylvia will be practicing alongside Amber French, DO, who has been pivotal in providing bio-identical hormone replacement therapy to help women across the region.
“We are excited to welcome Sylvia to our team,” Dr. French said. “And I’m personally excited to have a colleague who is also passionate about focusing on gynecology, specifically helping women navigate hormonal transitions such as perimenopause and menopause.”
