Physician of the Month

Natalia Miles, MD

Consult Liaison, Psychiatry

Natalia Miles, MD, is a board certified Psychiatrist who has cared for patients at Northeast Georgia Physicians Group for the last two years. With a dedication to open communication and empowering her patients, Dr. Miles provides personalized treatment for the complete spectrum of behavioral health conditions —and particularly mental health patients with acute medical conditions. Before joining NGPG, Dr. Miles earned her medical degree from the State University of New York’s Upstate Medical University. She subsequently completed her residency at University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester New York before finishing her fellowship in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine.

Anonymous nomination: Dr. Miles exhibits several of the system’s Core Values on a routine basis, but at the center of her daily work is deep interdependence. Dr. Miles has stepped up every time she has had the opportunity to further support Behavioral Health, and this is probably most easily exhibited by her “let’s do it” approach to starting the Behavioral Health Bedded Outpatient Unit at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only did she agree to take this duty on in addition to her routine consulting duties, but she has even extended her days when needed, to make sure this was covered. She has also done the same thing, volunteering to fill staffing needs as we continue to grow the Behavioral Health Service. Dr. Miles is selfless, and a true role model of the deep interdependence required through COVID-19, and truly appreciated at all times!

APP of the Month

Mitzi Williams, NP

Critical Care Services

Mitzi Williams started at as an inpatient rehabilitation secretary at Northeast Georgia Health System in 1998 while attending nursing school at Brenau University. She went on to graduate from Brenau and started working right away in medical cardiology. In 2003, she transferred to critical care to be an ICU nurse.

In 2011, she entered the Masters Program at Emory University. After graduating the next year, she started at Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Inpatient Medicine and then transferred to Critical Care Medicine as a nurse practitioner in September of 2014, where she still remains.

Anonymous nomination: Mitzi has been an APP for the critical care team for quite some time. She is always so caring towards her patients and just does the “right thing.”  She has worked so hard, caring for our extremely sick COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. Mitzi is truly one of the backbones of our critical care medicine service.

Staff Employee of the Month

Lindsey Edwards, Practice Manager

NGPG GME Family Medicine

Lindsey Edwards graduated from North Georgia College & State University in 2009 with a biology degree and began working at NGPG Surgical Associates soon after — in 2013 — as a MOA. In 2015, she was hired as NGPG Gainesville I/II manager and remains in that position, although in a new location at Medical Park 2. She’s seen the practice grow form just one provider and nurse practitioner to a practice with 19 faculty providers and 12 residents.

Anonymous nomination: Lindsey has shown great stewardship during the time I have been here. Our patients are always first. She always goes above and beyond to make sure all patients and employees are taken care of in the best way. She is a woman of many hats and deserves to be recognized for her endless efforts to make today a better tomorrow.
