Brittany “Kara” Barrett, a family nurse practitioner and North Georgia native with 15 years of experience, has joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Interventional Pain Medicine in Dawsonville.

“I consider it a privilege to work alongside my patients to manage their pain in the most conservative, effective way possible,” said Kara. “My goal is to connect with my patients on a personal level.”

Kara is originally from Habersham County and has lived there her entire life. She began her healthcare career in high school as a certified nursing assistant and earned her nursing degree from the University of North Georgia. She has worked as a registered nurse in various hospitals and physician practices, including at Habersham Medical Center (now Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham) and with NGPG Surgical Associates in Gainesville.

“After I returned to school to become a family nurse practitioner, I chose Interventional Pain Medicine because patients who experience chronic pain are not only affected physically but also mentally and emotionally,” said Kara. “I enjoy building relationships with my patients and learning what matters most to them so we can work together to help improve their quality of life.”

Kara is a mother of two teenage daughters. She enjoys spending time with her husband and watching her daughters play sports. Her family especially loves cooking and sharing meals together.

“I’m excited to work for an organization that cares about the community and gives back in many ways beyond the bedside,” said Kara.

NGPG Interventional Pain Medicine in Dawsonville is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is located at 200 Dawson Commons Circle, Suite 200. Call 770-848-7246 to schedule an appointment with Kara or visit ngpg.org/barrett to learn more.
