As both a longtime Gwinnett resident and physician, Khaja Ahmed, MD, understands the value of consistency in healthcare. That’s why, after more than two decades of practicing in Georgia, he’s joining Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Dacula to continue caring for people where he lives, works and raised his family.
“Building strong relationships with my patients and making sure I’m there for them throughout their health journey has always been at the center of what I do,” Dr. Ahmed said. “I want every patient who walks through the door to feel heard and important.”
Dr. Ahmed’s path to medicine started early. Encouraged by several doctors in his extended family and fueled by a love of science, he started taking part in science fairs as a student in Bangladesh. That curiosity grew and grew, taking him through medical school at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College in Bangladesh and then through family medicine residencies at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside, New York, and Meadville Medical Center in Meadville, Pennsylvania – all before settling in Georgia.
Since then, Dr. Ahmed has treated families from Columbus to Decatur, and Augusta to Alpharetta, making sure all of their health needs were met. On top of that, he’s been a consistent volunteer at local charity care clinics along the way, especially in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties.
Dr. Ahmed and his wife, who is also a physician, have a son who goes to the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of work, Dr. Ahmed enjoys reading, traveling, walking and spending time with his family and friends.
