An orthopedic surgeon who trained with one of the leading hospitals in the nation is now seeing patients in Dawsonville and Gainesville and providing robotic surgery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin and Gainesville. Alexander Christ, MD, recently joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Orthopedic Surgery and specializes in adult hip and knee reconstruction with advanced training in robotic-assisted joint replacement.
“I have found that using the robot when I perform joint replacement surgery often leads to less pain and faster recovery times for patients,” says Dr. Christ. “The technology helps me tailor procedures to each patient’s unique anatomy, and I’m excited to provide this level of care in our community.”
Dr. Christ completed his fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Cleveland Clinic in Florida following a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Florida, where he earned the Enneking-Petty-Ghivizzani UF Kappa Delta Award for excellence in research and clinical care. He specializes in robotic hip and knee replacement, robotic partial knee replacement, anterior hip replacement, other joint replacement, revision surgeries and general orthopedic trauma.
A former Division I collegiate tennis player at Furman University, Dr. Christ’s passion for sports and outdoor activity inspired his career.
“Helping people return to the activities they love – whether it’s hiking, fishing, playing tennis or just moving through life – is a privilege,” said Dr. Christ. “Orthopedics allows me to restore mobility and reduce pain so people can maintain a high quality of life.”
Dr. Christ and his wife are excited to move closer to extended family in Atlanta and settle into the community. Outside of work, he continues to enjoy playing tennis, as well as golf and pickleball.
