When Sahil Sakibuzzaman, MD, treats patients with neurological issues through Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) in Buford, it’s far more than just his job – it’s his passion fueled by his family’s history.
“I originally thought about a career in medicine because I was inspired by my grandfather’s lifelong commitment to helping others as a physician,” said Dr. Sakibuzzaman, who tells patients to call him Dr. Saki. “Then I witnessed both of my grandmothers suffer from strokes and try to recover with limited resources, and that cemented my goal to become a neurologist.”
Dr. Sakibuzzaman sees patients with a variety of neurological conditions and has special interests in treating headaches, dementia and epilepsy.
“For me, care begins with connection,” he said. “Patients with neurological conditions often face complex challenges, and I believe that building strong, trusting relationships with them and their caregivers is key. Over time, these relationships allow us to work together to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life.”
Dr. Sakibuzzaman earned his medical degree from Sir Salimullah Medical College in Bangladesh and completed his neurology residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and toddler, exploring the outdoors, jogging, hiking and discovering local restaurants. His love for nature and community makes North Georgia the perfect place for him to call home.
