Growing up in Hiawassee, Georgia, Chase Shook, MD, watched his family make serving others a priority. Whether helping neighbors with a home project or giving back to the community in a number of ways, those examples stayed with him and eventually led him to medicine. Now, he’s returning to northeast Georgia to continue that tradition as he joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Dahlonega to provide primary care.
“Growing up about an hour from here, I saw how important a community like this one is,” Dr. Shook said. “It’s what I loved about my time at the University of North Georgia (UNG), too, so being able to come back to this area and care for the people and families who remind me of my own is really special.”
Dr. Shook earned his bachelor’s degree from UNG. While there, he also volunteered in the emergency department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, continuing to serve the community even while in college. He went on to earn his medical degree from Mercer University in Macon and recently completed his family medicine residency nearby at Atrium Health Navicent, where he served as co-chief resident.
“When I’m not caring for patients at work, I love spending time with my wife and daughter – often kayaking, golfing and being outdoors,” said Dr. Shook. “And we’re always looking for a new restaurant to try.”
NGPG Dahlonega is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is located at 95 Morrison Moore Parkway West in Dahlonega. Call 770-219-9475 to schedule an appointment or visit ngpg.org/shook to learn more.
