Buford gets another primary care provider as Catherine Kuo, MD, joins NGPG

Halfway through medical school, Catherine Kuo, MD, spent several weeks leading primary care outreach clinics in Africa. It was an experience that reshaped how she thinks about the responsibility that comes with being a physician, and she’s bringing that mindset with her as she joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Buford.

“I learned, and love, that no two days look the same in family medicine,” Dr. Kuo said. “One patient might need help managing a chronic illness, and the next is a kid coming in for a check-up. Getting to care for people at every stage of life is what drew me to this specialty in the first place.”

Dr. Kuo grew up in Washington and earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine on the Caribbean island of Grenada – spending most of her time in the United Kingdom, though, as part of the program’s global health track. Her residency training brought her back to the states as she completed her family medicine residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. During her training, she was named chief resident and recognized as the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians’ 2026 Family Medicine Resident of the Year.

“Outside of work, I love to travel,” Dr. Kuo said. “I’ve been to 32 countries so far. I’m also really into coffee and I enjoy reading.”

NGPG Buford is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is located at 4445 South Lee Street, Suite 210. Call 770-848-5200 to schedule an appointment or visit ngpg.org/kuo to learn more.
