Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
About NGPG Behavioral Health
One in five people in the United States experience some type of mental health issue in any given year. That number has been steadily increasing since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. More people than ever have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression or another mental health condition in the last few years.
If you’ve been diagnosed with a mental health condition or are experiencing the signs of one, we want you to know that you aren’t alone—and the care you need can be found close to home through NGPG Behavioral Health. Our team of behavioral health specialists offers therapy in multiple locations throughout northeast Georgia.
When you receive care through NGPG, there’s an added benefit. We can seamlessly work alongside your NGPG primary care provider and other medical providers to offer you care that’s truly comprehensive and tailored to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
The term “behavioral health” can sometimes be confusing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines behavioral health as a person’s “mental, emotional and social well-being.” The category of care broadly encompasses mental health, suicidal thoughts and substance abuse, offering therapy and other services to support mental well-being on multiple levels.
NGPG’s behavioral health specialists are licensed clinical social workers who are specially-trained to provide care that supports well-being. They offer therapy and guidance to help patients handle life’s challenges, such as stress, a diagnosed mental health condition, addiction, grief or trauma.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Behavioral health services can benefit people facing all kinds of challenges – from everyday stresses and burnout to diagnosed mental health conditions, such as anxiety.
If you notice changes in your emotions; more peaks and valleys in how you’re feeling than normal; personality changes withdrawal from usually enjoyable activities or relationships or a disruption in your eating or sleeping habits, talk with your primary care provider about what you’re experiencing. Your provider can help you identify whether you could benefit from seeing a behavioral health specialist or other specialty care provider.
To receive care through NGPG Behavioral Health, you will need a referral from an NGPG primary care provider. This allows us to work collaboratively with your other medical providers in order to offer the most comprehensive care for your physical and mental health needs.
Sometimes you may have more immediate, urgent health needs. If you are experiencing a crisis or are having suicidal thoughts, please don’t wait to seek care. You can access help 24/7 by calling:
- Georgia Crisis and Access Line: 1-800-715-4225
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988
You can also text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at the number listed above.
Your first visit with an NGPG Behavioral Health specialist will serve as an assessment of where things currently stand. Be honest and open about what you’re experiencing, including your symptoms and how they’re affecting your daily life. We want to know all the details, since they help to inform the care we offer.
This initial discussion will also include questions about how you envision your well-being improving. Using this information, your behavioral health specialist will create an individualized treatment plan for you that will grow and evolve as your needs do.
What’s next after the first appointment? Your treatment may include having regular therapy sessions, either weekly or every other week, or you may be referred to a psychiatrist when additional care is needed.
We recognize that sometimes patients simply don’t feel up to leaving their homes, or they aren’t able to do so for some reason. NGPG Behavioral Health offers both in-person and virtual visits, allowing you to choose the type of care that’s best for you. When scheduling an appointment, simply let us know what type of appointment you need.
