When Taylor Hollingsworth, MD, ran sprints and relays for the University of Georgia Track & Field team, her dedication and determination propelled her toward the finish line. Now she’s applying that same intensity and focus in the race to improve care for women across the region, as she’s joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) OB/GYN in Habersham County.
“My passion for obstetrics and gynecology started when I first helped deliver a baby while I was in medical school,” said Dr. Hollingsworth. “Helping to bring life into the world while making sure both the mother and baby were safe was a rewarding and miraculous experience.”
Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Dr. Hollingsworth earned her dual undergraduate degree in Nutrition Science and Spanish from the University of Georgia while also being a varsity athlete. She then received her medical degree from Mercer University and completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Florida’s Level 1 Trauma Center and Level 4 NICU in Jacksonville. There, she gained extensive experience of handling both routine and emergency situations like vaginal breech deliveries, ruptured ectopic pregnancies, emergent dilation, curettages and cesarean hysterectomies.
“I am really passionate about helping women and creating a care plan that aligns with their health goals,” said Dr. Hollingsworth. “It’s important to help them understand what is going on in their bodies and how we can work together to help them feel their best every day. I want women to leave their appointments feeling heard, confident and empowered.”
Dr. Hollingsworth and NGPG OB/GYN provide the full spectrum of women’s health services including annual appointments, contraceptive counseling, infertility treatments and perimenopausal care. She sees patients in Demorest and provides labor and delivery services, as well as gynecologic surgery, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Habersham. The hospital is a safe and comfortable place for expecting moms with labor, delivery and recovery all taking place in the same room. NGMC Habersham also has a Level I Newborn Nursery and access to Prepared Childbirth Classes to help families feel confident and prepared.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Hollingsworth to our team,” says Thomas Hatchett, MD, another OB/GYN with NGPG who has cared for women in Habersham County for decades. “Her energy, expertise, and dedication make her a wonderful addition to our community. I’m confident she’ll have a lasting impact on the women and families we serve.”
When Dr. Hollingsworth is not caring for patients, she’s reading murder mystery novels while drinking a strong cup of coffee. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, kayaking, playing tennis and keeping up with all University of Georgia athletics.
“As a proud UGA alum and letterman, I’m always cheering for the Dawgs,” said Dr. Hollingsworth. “Sic ’em!”
