What We Treat
NGPG Pediatrics provides comprehensive primary care for children of all ages, including sick visits. With young and developing immune systems, children pick up contagious illnesses more often than adults do.
We’re here to diagnose and treat a variety of common illnesses, such as:
- Colds
- COVID-19
- Croup
- Flu
- Head lice
- Pink eye
- Rashes
- RSV
- Stomach bugs
- Strep throat
We also diagnose, treat, and manage chronic medical conditions that affect children, such as diabetes, eczema, asthma, and allergies.
What We Do
NGPG Pediatrics physicians and nurse practitioners offer a full spectrum of pediatric care, encompassing both well care and sick visits. Our goal is the same as yours—we want to keep your children healthy, well, and on track developmentally.
To do this, we offer:
- After-hours care
- Sick visits
- Sports or school physicals
- Well-child care
While sick visits help us diagnose and treat any acute illnesses or injuries, well care serves a different purpose. Regular well visits help us keep a close eye on health and wellness, allowing us to intervene when necessary to help little ones meet developmental milestones.
FAQs
How often does my child need checkups?
That depends on your child’s age. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends well-child visits at frequent intervals during the first one and a half years of life, roughly every one to three months. From 18 months to age 3, the AAP calls for a well-child visit every six months.
From ages 3 to 21, your child can shift to annual well-child visits unless more frequent visits are needed due to a chronic medical condition or a developmental issue.
What happens during a well-child visit?
The specifics of a well-child visit will vary depending on your child’s age and overall health, but there are some general components:
- Chronic disease management or diagnosis
- Developmental monitoring
- Immunizations
- Screenings
During these visits, NGPG Pediatrics providers can also talk about any questions or concerns you have and offer educational information about your child’s overall health and well-being.
How do I make an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by using the form on this page or by calling the location that’s closest to you. If you have more than one child who needs an appointment, you can schedule back-to-back appointments for your children. Just let us know you have multiple children you need to bring in together when you’re scheduling the appointments.
What should I bring to an appointment?
For your child’s first appointment with an NGPG Pediatrics provider, please bring a copy of your child’s medical and immunization records or have your previous pediatrician send the records to NGPG. If your child takes any medications, bring a list of those medications.
Because pediatric well-child visits focus on development, come to visits with questions or concerns about your child’s health and wellness. It may be helpful to talk with your child’s caretakers and anyone who regularly interacts with your little one to gather details about growth, development, and any issues of note.
If your child’s appointment is for a school or sports physical, you should also bring along any forms that need to be signed.
Is it normal for my child to be sick so often?
Your child’s pediatrician can offer an answer to that question, but in general, children do get sick a lot more than their adult counterparts. It’s quite normal for children who are in daycare or in school to pick up contagious illnesses throughout the school year.
According to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study, more than two-thirds of children miss at least one day of school for illness each year, with half of those missing one to three days. Take the common cold as one example—adults usually get two to three colds each year, but children may get even more.
The good news is that most illnesses commonly picked up at school are mild and fleeting. If your child gets sick, check in with your pediatrician about what to do.
How quickly can my child be seen when sick?
We reserve some availability for same-day and next-day appointments for sick children. Give our office a call when your child is under the weather, and we’ll get you in as quickly as possible. You can also access care for non-emergency medical conditions at NGPG Urgent Care clinics, which accept patients ages 6 months and older.
What if I can’t bring my child to the office?
We offer telemedicine services for our patients during regular business hours Monday through Friday, as well as after hours. During regular hours, please call the location of your choice and let the scheduler know you’d like a telemedicine appointment.
If your child needs care after 5 p.m. on a weekday or over the weekend, call the office and hold for the call to be routed to the answering service. They’ll connect you with the provider who is on call.
